70’s Wedding Inspiration that is totally groovy (there is even a VW Bus!)

If you have been around this blog for a while, it’s not new to you that I love throwing caution to the wind when it comes to tradition. So when I heard that Kylie, the owner of Lilac and Lemon Photography, was planning a groovy 70’s inspired wedding styled shoot I jumped at the chance. So, not only did I have a blast designing something totally different filled with bold colors and shapes, but the whole vendor team did an amazing job on this groovy shoot!

Inspiration

When Kylie and I talked during her design consult, we talked quite a bit about our love for that 70’s show and my love of VW bugs. I heard there about the real life VW bug and I was dreaming up ideas left and right! (They are sooo cute!)

Kylie’s inspiration board had a very geometric pattern that she just loved and I incorporated into the final design on the RSVP and Invitation Corners. The geometric patterns on the envelope liners and the back of the invitations custom creations I designed. The interconnecting geometric patterns that are totally synonymous with the 70’s era.

Can’t forget the monogram!

If you have ever been to the south, you know that monograms are huge! From towels and backpacks to baskets and silverware monograms are on everything.

“In the South, a wedding monogram is an ABSOLUTE MUST. I was sick of the same looking monogram and asked Molly to help me show couples you don’t have to be traditional to keep tradition.” – Kylie, Lilac and Lemon Photography

So I designed a unique monogram for the back of the invitation that definitely defies tradition.

Original Design Proposal sent to Kylie from Lilac and Lemon Photography.

I personally think the suite turned out amazing and it was so great to work with Kylie and the other vendors on the styling team to bring this stationery to life!

oh that adorable vw bus…

Kylie even incorporated an adorable VW bus pin that matched the actual bus into the styled shoot! I created a unique card for the bus and let it to “drive” away into the sunset.
